Last week Greensboro's Police Chief, Timmy Bellamy, alerted his troops that there was going to be personnel decisions released to the public that would gain "media attention." Allegedly Chief Bellamy will be announcing these major moves early this week. No information regarding the specifics of what kind of moves are going to be made is available. However, a source very close to the story has revealed that the moves will more than likely be demotions of high ranking officers.
This announcement came to a suprise to some because many GPD insiders have been made aware that the police have completed their investigation regarding the Secret Police and no criminal charges will be made. However, the demotions could be for not dotting i's or crossing t's. The only agency that is still investigating the Secret Police is the SBI.
Timmy also reported to his troops that his administration is becoming overwhelmed with grievances. He suggested that police simply try to get along and only file a grievance if absolutely necessary.
According to a plus 10 year veteran on the force, the majority of the complaints have come from a proposed change of schedule. According to this secret source, City Manager, Mitch Johnson, wants police to revert back to the schedule they had in the early 90's. The proposed schedule is: 5 days on and three days off, 5 days on three days off, five days on four days off. Currently police work four days on and four days off. Rumblings questioning who is operating the police department have been louder than ever over the past month.
Other complaints being heard are black officers that are getting away with rule breaking while white officers are treated harshly. Also, several detectives have been pulled to work special events, such as Super Jamz, on duty time. This reportedly cost detectives special event over time and took them away from the cases they were working.

You may be wrong Ben. The Interim Chief will not make anouncements until the City Manager and Chief (LM)allow him. People that say Bellamy is with full powers are blind. No major changes and no promotions. Why, because Johnson and Miles are running (ruining) the Department. The worse is yet to come!!
How true.
When the new schedule comes out the patrol officer's will get kicked in the teeth again! Just like the last change---always patrol being punished and they have nothing to do with the scandals! The city manager needs to deal with "dirty BRASS"--get it cleaned!! Just take the assistant chief who admitted to a forgery as an example. How about the scandal in the training division? What about that Captain? ETC...ETC
I wonder who Jerry Bledsoe interviewed for that load crap the Rhino is printing about Wray. I don't think we need to look to far. Hammer is refusing to print commets for people calling the beep with the truth. He should he could get more circulation and more ad money. Wray had some good points but so did White. The important thing is it wasn't just a white and black thing that everybody is tring to make it look like.
To the person who calls it a load of crap, what part is not accurate? It is so easy to make negative comments especially when you don't have anything to back up those comments. What part is not true and why??
At least it wasn't a violation of someones civil rights, according to the FBI.
Mr Bledsoe is merely reporting what he has heard from a few sources. I hope he will get the entire story. Mr Wray may have not been a good chief, but lets not forget that he served greensboro for 25 years before that and put his life on the line more than most. If it was one time, it is enough in my book. I am not a supporter of the former chief, but I want to give him credit for those good times.
Yea--yea--blaa, blaa about Wray and how we have to give him credit! Q: Where was he when the chips were down..at "High Noon" as he would say? A:In Kinko's faxing in his resignation letter! PATHETIC!
That last comment is funny. I bet you are an officer that complains all the time about any and all changes. Never happy, hates his job, but loves to complain. Where have you been when the chips were down? Bitching and complaining. Be honest with yourself!
Funny... I've been watching as 1) An assistant Chief "retired" in a swirl of controversy and his retirement is withheld pending investigations 2) The Captain over Internal Affairs (promoted by Wray) does the same 3) The Chief resigns in the midst of all the polygraphs given to his cohorts because "it was in the best interest of the department" 4)Another Assistant Chief (promoted by Wray) forges documents as reported in the N&R and is still employed 5)A Captain (promoted by Wray) is investigated by the NC Justice Academy and places the entire training division certification in jeopardy. So I guess they were all "framed" and I'm just a "complainer" who doesn't like change?? Go give Bledsoe some good quotes!
Chief Wray also surrounded himself with a "select few". No big deal, they've all done it and will continue to do it. The problems are Chief Wray clearly didn't like a lot of the things that White had done with the department and was hell bent on changing them - instead of easing into things and making gradual changes, he stepped him, puffed out his chest, hiked up his pants and said "its my way or the highway". The fact that he could not let some things go and would never admit a mistake also hurt him. He was way to concerned about HIS image. I've never seen another chief so stuck on himself. His EGO is what got him in the end.
For those still at the department: Its time for everyone to quit complaining, move forward and do your best. There will always be favoritism etc etc etc BUT it has nothing to do with BLACK or WHITE.
GET OVER IT and DO YOUR JOB!
Hey Mr. Anonymous Complainer, you didn't mention anything about Hinson and his dirty deeds.Don't believe everything you read in the N&R. I hope you don't get your facts there!
I tell you what, put your beliefs in what Mitchell Johnson and Linda Miles tell you. Do you support the FACT that MJ and LM can let the press hear their story, when they choose but, order everyone else not to talk? Sounds like a railroad to me.
All hard knocks aside, it will be years and many civil trials before the truth and lies are truly known.
I will give you credit; Chief Wray did love himself but, the majority didn't like many of the changes White made to the Department unless your name was Hinson or Blanks.
Ain't it funny that Wray illegally reveals confidential personnel matters about Hinson and Morton in order to prove his integrity?
To prove his integrity??? I believe it will show that the integrity left the Department under White. Wray is just trying to show what he was attempting to stop/correct before his efforts were stopped by Johnson, Chief Miles and the almighty race card!!
