Fox 8 hints at indictments.

Fox 8 News had some interesting news.

Sources tell FOX8 News indictments resulting from the SBI investigation into the Greensboro Police Department could be handed up as early as April. Those sources also say as many as six people will be named. The SBI has completed its investigation into internal corruption within the department. Agents are said to be writing up a report that will be turned over to a special prosecutor at the Attorney General's office in Raleigh, who could in turn, impanel a grand jury.

You have shown that you have some pretty good sources .. who are the six to be indicted? Inquiring minds want to know!

I don't have any sources but I would just pick the top six names you hear everyday, Wray, Brady, Lojko, Fox, Sanders, and a player to be named later or Hartley, but he's already out of the picture at least territorially speaking.

It would be a tragedy to see indictments of people such as Sanders and Fox, or Bissett. Other than some tape recording of phone calls that may be questionable, I know of no other issues.

However, Mitch has raised expectations of "heads will roll" to the point that I fear someone will be charged in relation to the Hinson matter. Anyone ever consider HE MAY BE A TARGET as well?

This is and was a big todo about nothing.

Maybe they can include DBS on some indictment somewhere. She seriously may have a mental problem that needs professional help. Even arrogant/racist individuals know what is going on in the world!!

Why do you think that the names listed above referred to as the "top six" will be indicted? My sources say Fox and Bissett will not and on the other hand if they indict Sanders shouldn't they also indict the US district attorney as a co-conspirator since he had knowledge and was present at the place and time of the interview. What about Pettiford, maybe she would provide some straight answers if facing jail time. And what about HERCULES Hinson and all his dealings with illegal charities, security company, and off duty pay while on duty. If the SBI did a thorough investigation these questions need to be address. Hopefully, this investigation will be unlike the city's RMA,(you get what you pay for) report.

As a retired law enforcement officer, I have followed with great interest the on-going saga of the Greensboro Police Department. Today, I focused on two items that cause serious concern for me regarding our city’s leadership’s understanding as it relates to the investigation of potential criminal cases.

On page 63 of the February 22nd Rhinoceros Times, author Jerry Bledsoe explains why Lt. Brian James was not told he was under investigation. According to Bledsoe, “It is not normal police procedure to call in a prime suspect in a criminal case and warn him that the person who appears to be his co-conspirator in crime is a bad person and to counsel him not to have further contact. That would tend to undermine the purpose of collecting evidence to prove that a crime was taking place.” Yet, according to the City Attorney’s Report, Assistant City Attorneys Blair Carr and Tonola Brown-Bland feel differently. I can only assume they felt this matter should have been handled administratively rather than criminally. I don’t understand why.

During this morning’s meeting of area bloggers with City Manager, Mitchell Johnson, a question was asked of Mr. Johnson regarding the taping of black community leaders by the Greensboro Police Department. Mr. Johnson’s response was quite surprising to me. He in essence stated that the manner in which this investigation was done was wrong. According to Mr. Johnson, a better way of handling it would have been to make a phone call. I am assuming he meant a phone call to the High Point Police Department considering it was their employee that was under criminal suspicion. My interpretation of Mr. Johnson’s comment was that he felt this potentially criminal matter should have better been handled administratively rather than criminally. Again, I don’t understand why.

Investigating and pursuing potential criminal activity involves risk. Police officers face these risks daily whether it is physical danger or the potential of civil liability attaching to their actions. They accept these risks as a part of their job. My question is…shouldn’t our city leaders support our officers in the pursuit of potential criminal corruption activities within our law enforcement agencies? Sadly, I can only assume that in these instances, race played a factor.

I hope for First Citizens Bank that Mayor Holliday does a better job there than he has in dealing with the GPD mess and City Contract scandals. This city needs new and better leadership. Leadership starts at the top and Holiday has failed. When you turn a blind eye to obvious misleading answers and outright lies being giving to the public by city management, reference overpayment to outside contractors, you are a poor leader.
