A check kiting scheme involving a Greensboro Attorney and millions of dollars was uncovered today in Greesnboro. Greensboro Attorney, T.O. Pella Stokes, was charged with obtaining property by false pretense, attempted false pretense and two counts of criminal conspiracy. He was arrested and taken to the Guilford County Jail under $100,000 bond. He has since posted bail.
The scheme included millions of dollars and became a multi jurisdictional investigation that included the DEA, US Post Office, Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies. The GPD's T-Set division was called in early this morning to help round up those wanted in this investigation.
Tramaine Denise Brown was also charged with obtaining property by false pretense in connection with the Stokes case.
Beverly Hinson, ex-wife of high profile GPD Officer James Hinson, was allegedly taken into custody by law enforcement officers on Randleman Road in Greensboro today. Insiders say she is a person of interest in this case and could be charged.
The Rib Shack on Randleman Road is reportedly another place of interest regarding this case.

I sincerely hope that anyone who states an opinion here is speaking truth & not just opinion. I personally know both Beverly and James. To date I would gladly put my life in either of their hands without a second thought. Those casting judgment need to take a look at themselves as well. God is the only true judge of us all.

I never liked Beverly Hinson from the start. She was rude, arrogant and thought she was better than everyone else. I wanted to slap her. I'm glad she got what was coming to her. She proved to be her own worst enemy, as well as stupid. Let this be a lesson to all of you who think you can play a game that you know you can't win. And that goes for "Pella" Stokes as well.
