I don't know a lot about Mr Nelson Johnson. I do know that anyone can become a rev. It is clear by this letter. I hope he knows that he is not hiding his public attack on Ms Gatten by using words and phrasing that suggest otherwise. This is only justification to himself for what he is doing. He is no different than the things he is describing. It is a shame that a "man of God" would take this road and blame everything on the police from before 1979. You're right mr johnson. The reason the rookie police office pulled over BS was because he wanted to continue to let people know that Greensboro is living in 1979. That is ridiculous. This is a rookie officer who probably wasn't even alive in 1979. Stop blaming your problems on the past. You are a unique person and an individual apart from every other individual that you know. You will one day answer for the things you do and say while claiming to be doing it for Christ. Don't you dare. You dig a hole for the rest of us to dig out of. This is a ridiculous letter. Thanks for putting this out Trouble!!
The black propagandists are at again. They continually use race as an excuse for inexcusable behavior. Should a black person ever be called out or accused of inappropriate, immoral or even illegal activity, the black pulpit is always at the ready to excuse and/or justify such behavior with the "racial" defense. Everything is black and white to them. They conveniently overlook and ignore the factual evidence while simultaneously exploiting the "race card." They are experts at playing this game and use it to further their own personal agendas of power mongering and demagoguery. They have raised this defense to an art form with no regard for the truth nor the underlying damage it actually causes the people they claim to represent. This constant playing of the race card only serves to re-enforce the message that young blacks have been spoon fed by their very own leaders for years -
The number of blacks incarcerated - It's not their fault. It's the fault of a racist society that is out to get them. Poor academic performance - It's the schools fault. The black students are being discriminated against. Higher school suspension rates - It's not their fault. The black students are being singled out for their bad behavior. Low graduation rates - It's not their fault. The cards were stacked against them from the beginning. How can they succeed under such circumstances? Poor job prospects with little skills - It's not their fault; see above. Accused of inappropriate behavior - It's not their fault. It must be racial discrimination.
The sad reality is that the great majority of the so-called black leaders never teach or preach the value of personal and parental responsibility. They only focus on blaming others for their own actions, behaviors and circumstances. Not once have I witnessed a message from a black leader that serves to inspire, encourage and uplift their constituents. Their only message is clear: Someone else is to blame for their woes. Clearly, these demoralizing and negative comments only serve to further perpetuate the problems facing the black community's youth. How do you expect them to excel in society when they are being constantly reminded (from the black bully pulpit) that they will never succeed, that society will never give them a "fair" shake or that their futures are mostly hopeless? Is this not a self-fulfilling prophecy? If I had been constantly told that I was perceived as worthless, that I would never amount to anything or be taken seriously by society, I too may have acted up in school, ignored my academic responsibilities or sought out a life of crime since, after all, what's the point? Why bother?
The big question that begs to be answered is what exactly have the black leaders actually accomplished for the very communities they purport to represent? Why have we as a society and especially the black citizens themselves not pondered this question of a self-fulfilling prophecy? Whose purpose is actually being served by constantly sending a message to your youths that they are not responsible for their own actions?
The blame game is tiresome and pathetic and needs to be put to rest.
Believe it or not, everything is not black and white...

It is time for the Black community to take responsibility for their problems. Yes, in the past much of what happened to hinder Blacks striving for a decent life was stymied by Whites in the South. That is not the case now. Now the crimes are Black against Black. Not only Black gangs against Black gangs, but sadly Black leaders and preachers against their Black constituents. We Whites can do nothing about the problems. We can only help when the Blacks are willing to help themselves. BB
The truth about 1979 ... Nelson Johnson and other Communists attacked and atagonized the KKK, culminating with a challenge to meet in Morningside Homes (none of the participants from either side lived in that area). When the KKK arrived (none of whom are from Greensboro), the Communists fired first, but the Klan were more accurate. 5 commies were killed (1 black, 4 white, none from Greensboro.)
Conclusions: 1-White KKK from another city shooting it out with mostly white commites from another city says nothing about race relations in Greensboro 2-Note to Nelson and the Commies: Just because you lose, doesn't mean you are a victim.
The last time anybody took Nelson's words seriously, 5 of them died, Greensboro is still paying for that thought process of his. I dont really think we can afford any more "advice" We should learn from the ultimate price others paid while he was under the car...
It's funny how people like the author of this letter claim to want equality while at the same time doing their damndest to destroy racial relations within the community. Wake up, Skip Alston crony, as realize that YOU are the bigot you constantly preach against.
Nelson Johnson is a communist...a racist...egotistical...pompus...stupid ass. Kudos to Councilwoman Gatten...if she were a man...I'd swear she had a big set swinging.
It is funny to me how all of you were anonymous in your posts. I work with Nelson Johnson on a daily basis and it is obvious that you all have not. You feel that you can read someone's well-thought out writing and attack them from your hiding place. Before you attack someone, schedule a meeting with them. Talk to them face to face. You are all in need of meeeting him personally in my opinion and it disturbs me the kinds of people who come to blogs and say thoughtless things. The reasons the community has a hard time moving forward is because of people like you all.

Actually, Bill Cosby has been trying to do these tings for several years, with small success, but not because he hasn't been trying..

Damn Rev, didnt know you could write, good stuff huh
I feel bad that no one ever writes Rev. Johnson back with something like this.
