Today, an officer was suspended without pay for having a blue light in his personal vehicle.
Mitchell Ryan Alston was hired on 1/16/03 and began patrolling the Western Division on 11/16/2003. On Feb 9, 2008, at 4 PM Alston was found with the blue light in his personal vehicle.
Alston is 27 years old and was paid $42,395 a year as a Greensboro Police Officer.His court date is in April and he will be represented by William Hill.

Hey also..I just read another comment about Wray knowing Hinson was bad news. Hell why do think White got his ass out of Gboro. He was in the thick of it with Hinson and saw it comming. All Hisson had to do was play the race card. Which everyone knows in Gbro Miles would say settle settle!!! Go and pull some of the lawsuites that have been filed and settled out of court against the city. Oh and if your anyone else you better pay your water bill, and prop taxes. Just look at these cases that are BS. but Miles settled at the cost of tax payers.

Guys, this Officer is black. No racial angle here. Ususally, the transition from suspended with pay to without pay happens when charges are made. I would guess he was charged soon after the light was found.
Yes, he is a black officer. This City is never going to get any better if we don't quit judging through black and white. There are good people in the black and white race, just like there are bad people who are black and white. Before you prejudge someone walk a mile in there shoes then judge.

No, he is not related to Skip, this guy is from Greensboro. He went to Southeast Guilford.
His first mistake was rebuffing Ron Rogers in 2004 when Rogers, his then captian, asked him to join the black mafia in GPD. Alston turned him down and never played the race card to my knowledge. Rogers hates Alston and never missed a chance to screw with him. Alston gave him many chances to discipline him, unfortuantely. No doubt Alston screwed up here again. But, if this were Alan Wallace, we would not be having this conversation.

If Alston had agreed to become one of Ron Rogers boys then he wouldn't be in the that trouble he is. Like with Wallace, Rogers would have made sure that another black officer not get the appropriate disipline. He would have been busy covering the butt of yet another buddy!!

Local triad LEO here....i've heard all the talk about how bad it can be for a white male at GPD lately....you chould really consider Guilford County Sheriff...Barnes is very fair and runs an enforcemnet aggressive department and supports his deputies who act professional an do the right thing.....I'd be there if i wasn't settled into my department with the good assignment I currently have....I lived in greensbor for 25 years....It's only going to get worse under the city government...take all that GPD training (it is great training....I've seen it) and take it to Guilford County...they would be happy to have you....Hell...we'll atke a few good officers at W.S.P.D. too....new chief here by June!....Good things are happening at W.S.P.D

In Greensboro North State is an officers advancement guarantee at the PD. It's the buddy system!
How could we ever forget Pam Rogers and the scarey fact that she is now lieutenant at the PD. As mentioned above she was recently promoted over other officers that are far more qualified. She owes it all to her husband Assistant Chief Ron Rogers. He made sure she was promoted by making phone calls to the command staff...instructing them in no uncertain terms that they were to promote his wife!! A total abuse of power and position by Rogers.
Surely this is a violation within the department. No integrity in this Assistant Chief.
You know it is truly sad, that this has turned to black and white. But, since some of you want to take it there. Why was it okay when it was going on so long with the good ole boys network in the police department. Know that the roles are somewhat reversed you say something needs to be done about it. Above you've got it wrong. I strongly was opposed to Wray and entirely agree that he was unfair!
I was extremely happy to see Wray resign. Wray's good ole boys network was just as wrong as what's happening now. I am simply saying that black and white shouldn't matter. But at the department it just seems to flip flop back and forth. We need leadership that sees past color and cares more for character.

I know the GPD did not find the blue light. Alston was ratted out
because he did not join the mafia in the GPD. He had his on little
games going on. GPD don't investigated anything unless it is in their best interest. They have a meeting out close to the airport

First Rogers got away with giving test quesitons to his wife. Now he is using the power of his position to move his wife up the ranks. Phone calls to staff as an Assistant Chief pushing his wife's promotion is inappropriate.

Cherry had an affair on duty with an officer in the late 90's that got both of them written up by either Sammy Bell or Jim Scifres,,can't remember. BTW, this officer is now a Lt.
Rogers was dogged by citizen complaints of cocaine use and sales as a PO, detective and Sgt., but Hugh Armstrong buired them. He and Pam benefited from the black-only study sessions where there were rumors of test questions being given out. Hinson once made a 99 on the oral boards back when they meant something---he had the questions before hand. I know because he told me one of the questions the day before the orals.
We have Ron Rogers to thank for Alan Wallace,,,,end of sentence. Al Stewart tried to take care of him but Bob White blocked it and transfered Stewart as punishment.

Wasn't Pam Rogers working for Anita Holder in Training Division when she passed the Sgt's test for the first and only time. And by the way, Anita was responsible for administering the Sgt's test and had access to all. Rumor has it that she and J.K. were close then.

Regardless of who she was working for she cheated on the test... compliments of her husband Ron Rogers... He provided her with the questions. I guess since that went so well... this time around he saw no problem with making phones calls informing those votering that they were to vote for his wife. Yes it's abuse of power by our Asst. Chief but it's not the first time and you can bet it won't be the last.
I didn't know about R Rogers cocaine complaints but I did know he got caught on video stealing furniture from the city. Still think this man should be Asst. Chief??
