PASTORS TO DISCLOSE DETAILS ON THE DESTRUCTION OF APPROXIMATELY 50 BOXES OF GREENSBORO POLICE FILES RELATED TO THE NOVEMBER 3, 1979 KLAN-NAZI KILLINGS DURING FORMER POLICE CHIEF DAVID WRAY’S ADMINISTRATION
Media Representatives are invited to join us on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 11:30 AM, at New Light Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC for an announcement related to the matter outlined below.
Based on information from an active duty police officer, three pastors – Rev. Cardes H. Brown, Rev. Gregory T. Headen, and Rev. Nelson N. Johnson – will disclose detailed information about the destruction of approximately 50 boxes of police files during the tenure of Former Police Chief David Wray. The materials were related to the November 3, 1979 killing of five labor and community organizers. The name of the police officer who gave the order to destroy the materials will be shared during the media briefing. The pastors will also share the circumstances surrounding the destruction of the files and their view of the broader implications of such conduct. Nelson johnson is a pussy if he was a real man he would of not hid under a car in 1979 like a bitch. he would of stood up for what he thought was the wright thing but no he is a pussy.
This is going to be very interesting and I have a feeling it's going to be more of s diversion to take the heat off of Johnson & Johnson. I look forward to the evidence and its content, however somehow the good Reverand is not high on my believeability chart.

Based on information from an active duty officer, I must ass-u-me this means a GPD officer and if so that means this meeting is being sanctioned by the city manager and the Chief of Police! Is the City Council aware of this, somehow I don't think soooooooo!
"We've got to quit nitpicking about memos and all that kind of crap, If we don't, ladies and gentlemen, we're not going to get anywhere."

The announcement of an upcoming press conference by the Pulpit Forum tomorrow is very interesting. From their announcement, it apparently is being held to release information into the alleged destruction of the November 3rd files by the GPD.
I would be very surprised to learn that original of any November 3rd file was destroyed by anyone at the GPD. However, if they were, it is completely within state procedures to do so.
NC Municipal Records Retention and Disposition Schedule states the following:
Case Records File. Records of cases investigated by police personnel. (Comply with provisions of GS 132-1.4 regarding confidentiality of criminal investigation records.)
Disposition Instructions:
a) Felonies - Destroy in office after 20 years.
b) Misdemeanors, investigations, noncriminal, missing persons, etc. - Destroy in office after 5 years.
I truly question the motive and timing behind this move by the Pulpit Forum. It appears as if it is a last ditch effort to save Mitch Johnson and I have a strong feeling they will end up with egg on their faces when the facts come out
For Pete's sake, the case is almost 30 years old and the court proceedings were over and done with decades ago.
You think GPD or any other PD has the space to store every damn thing they collect for decades and decades?
Get over it.
i bet the johnson and johnson and perkins crew cant wait till the boxes on project homestead get some age...
......yawn.....
Yep, this earth shattering revelation of the timely and proper handling of records will probably have Hinson, Rogers , Mitch Johnson et al. behind it in an attempt to stir up the people of color. Then with the spotlight off of their corrupt activities of the last 2 years they can appear to put oil on the troubled waters of race relations in this "blind" city.
If there was anything of value in those boxes it would bury the likes of Jim Melvin and the GPD officers involved that day and there is no way ANY officer could go public without the approval of GPD and the City Manager's office being involved.
So apparently someone is trying to put up yet another smoke screen and blame it on Wray.
And finally, who's to say these 50 boxes haven't already been copied and placed in databases and FBI files somewhere? Could there really be 50 boxes of unknown evidence never before seen by the FBI? Somehow I doubt it.
And yes, how long are documents kept after a case is closed?
Just finished watching the press conference.( live straming WGHP ) ZZZZZZZ. The square root of zero. Nada. Zippo. What a complete and utter waste of time.
The usual code words were tossed out:RMA; David Wray; black book; surveilance; institutional racism etc etc Oh and a new demon ..Mary Rakestraw. Meanwhile, Mitch was hiding in his bunker pleasuring himself. He is pathetic and needs to find a job that he can handle.
I'm glad they destroyed the files. After almost thirty years and way too much drama, it's time for the city to put this incident behind it and open the space up for relevant, current cases. Of course that also means it's time for Nelson Johnson and his bunch to fade out of view.
I thought that Nelson looked very distinguished today at the press conference with his glasses on.
I had to laugh at the end when he and Rev. Cardes Brown were talking about you after the press conference ended but before Fox 8 turned the live video feed off. Rev. Brown said to Nelson: "He was in rare form today. I thought you had said something to him before we got here today."
The North Carolina Administrative Office of Courts rules specify that felony court records may be destroyed after 20 years. Yawn. Records storage space in any law enforcement facility is limited and archives need to be disposed of.
Anon,
That' true, and guidelines do not specify that sensitive records be thrown in a dumpster. That is an idiotic claim. If you wanted to get rid of sensitive documents that you don't want someone to see, you burn or shred them. Duh!
concerning the 50 boxes, rumor has it that the collection of evidence and material in the klan/nazi shooting was second to that of the kenndy assassination...sorry nelson looks like the law is on the shadows side...what do you think this is a communist state...papers...papers do you have papers...what the hell at least they got rid of your fbi check and your criminal history that was probably 1 box by itself...
Who cares? Non-story. It is called change the subject. From Mitch and city hall back to Wray. It is just a coincidence that they mentioned that this happened in the Wray administration? Bullshit!!!
Wray was not a manangers of evil puppets like some think,,,he was too busy playing with his hair and trying to get women in bed.
nelson johnson & company...i don't judge you by the color of your skin... but rather by the content of your character
