Open Letter to Mike Barber: State of the Greensboro Police Asylum!

Dear Mr. Barber,

My readers already knew that the three suspended Greensboro Police Officers that allegedly sexually assaulted a female Greensboro Police Officer would not face criminal charges.

On Tuesday, February 05, 2008, I wrote a post titled: Suspended Cops Clear Criminal Charges. "A source deep inside the Guilford County D.A.'s Office just informed the Troublemaker that due to a lack of evidence and a "Sloppy investigation by Greensboro Police" there will be no charges against the three officers that were suspended for alleging sexually assaulting a female officer.

Sergeant A. S. Wallace, Officer J. O. LeGrand and Officer C. S. Stevens were suspended with pay last December while a criminal and administrative investigation took place. Although the officers have not been reinstated and put back on patrol, they will not face any criminal charges."

I knew that and those that read my blog knew it too. You see, I am kinda a big deal around here. Notice the (Top left) Championship Belt? I have followed the Wray Fray from its inception and have been a major force in getting information to the public about the many investigations that have taken place.

The News and Record recently confirmed what I reported in February regarding the Greensboro Police sexual assault case. This is not surprising because the N&R always repeats what I have already reported. It is amazing how they do it without the slightest acknowledgement. I am the biggest pink elephant West Market Street has ever ignored.

The part that was surprising was what you told the N&R. Mr. Barber, you said: "We have hundreds of great police officers, and we have about a dozen rotten ones. We've seen too many instances in this city of officer behavior where, if this was the private sector, they'd be fired. And that's what should happen any time they engage in behavior that's unbecoming a police officer."

The N&R further reported you believing that "recent controversies involving Greensboro's police force have hurt the department's morale — not because the incidents occurred but because the officers involved weren't properly punished."

You also told the N&R: "I think all these issues would stop in large measure if we'd fire a handful of these officers. These bad eggs need to realize that this behavior isn't going to be forgotten. ... It will be met with termination. The police department should "expect excellence" and that begins with Police Chief Tim Bellamy. All of this has happened on Chief Bellamy's watch. Something has got to change — either the continued behavior of these officers has to change, or their management has to change. And the City Council, through the city manager's office, is willing to make that change."

Mr. Barber, your little speech you gave to the N&R was funny. What was your point? I think you just wanted to spout some truth to give the public a perception that you actually intend on doing something to improve the Greensboro Police Asylum. It is a fact that morale is low. It is a fact that the races are divided. I wonder if the white cops being ruled under a dishonest Black Mafia Police Force displace anger while on patrol? It is a fact that distrust runs rampant. I recently saw Sherry Ryan, a Greensboro Police Officer, on the news speaking on the behalf of the Department. That is the best they have? Sherry Ryan? Seriously?

I am ashamed of the Greensboro Police Department and the entire City of Greensboro for that matter. I am most ashamed of you Mr. Barber. I have watched you time and time again just apply a little pressure on the city staff only to retreat soon after. You runt he other way when you see me and you don;t return my calls. Mr. Barber, even Robbie Perkins understands how important it is to stay in touch with Trouble.

I watched Mitch lie straight to your face about Willow Oaks and you did nothing. I am still waiting for you to publicly finish this conversation with Mitch. Have Mitch explain the rules
for settlements of agreements? Ask about that $100,000? Let's have Mitch elaborate? You did nothing. I followed up and video taped it.



Did you even know what Mitch said? Ignoring it? Hiding from it? Does confrontation make you feel icky? You acted like I do when I am playing checkers with my son. He gets himself into positions that are absolutely game ending. However, I ease off any pressure and provide him a path to victory. You do the same thing with Mitch. The difference is my son is 7 and we play checkers.

You went into the back with six other council members to debate if the city council should continue to illegally withhold public information about the Greensboro Police sexual assault case. You knew that the city should have released public information as soon as it is requested. You went along as the city legal staff and the mayor magically transformed public information into personnel information without calling bullshit. Honestly, I am sick of your tough guy talk.

The fact is the previous council supported Mitch and continuously told the people that we would see why the Wray Fray took place one day. What have we seen? Wray got a big time job with the Federal Government. He makes more money now than he did when he was the Chief of Police. Randall Brady got his retirement and the city paid his legal fees. It is humorous to those that have followed the facts as opposed to the myths.

You told the N&R during your latest tough guy segment that "We've seen too many instances in this city of officer behavior where, if this was the private sector, they'd be fired. And that's what should happen any time they engage in behavior that's unbecoming a police officer."

Let's just examine A. Wallace.

Now add to Wallace's resume the sexual assault investigation. You could even go ask Ritchie about the money Wallace used for his lap dance investigation. Ask Ron Rogers to explain the sexual assault in public. The public trust is at stake.

I could go on and on and on about several other officers as well as your sick submissive relationship with Mitch. But, I am not sure it would accomplish anything. I just wanted my readers to know that it is you that needs to be watched and not Robbie Perkins. I know what to expect from Perkins.

You need to publicly question Mitch about Willow Oaks but you will not. The little escape plan you provided was gross. Not one follow up question? What about Julius and McMinn? Was there any proof? Was there a violation? Was it malicious gossip? Or, was it just good old bullshit from the GPD to help Mitch and his gang of lawless bandits rob tax payers? What is your role in Mitch's gang? Do you play bad cop for good publicity?
