According to Chief Miller, there is no conflict for Captain James Hinson to be the owner and director of two group homes for troubled teens. By saying that, Miller wants us to believe that there is no conflict for a police captain to have a group home in the area that they serve as the top commander. One of Hinson's group homes is located at 2212 Glenside Drive and it is located in the eastern division. James Hinson currently serves as the Commanding Officer of Eastern Division. James Hinson is also the owner and director of the group home located at 2212 Glenside Drive. Got it?
The group homes that James Hinson owns and directs have called the police from time to time. For example, police records reveal that Guilford Metro 911 has received over 40 calls between 2008-2011 from the Glenside Drive group home. One call Guilford Metro 911 received from the Glenside Dr group home was from a teen placed at the group home. He called the police and reported a staff member had "pulled a night stick on him."
Hinson is the director and the owner of the group home where the 911 call came from. He also is the commanding officer of that area for the Greensboro Police Department. If there ever is an investigation or a crime that takes place there and police find the group home acted unlawfully or irresponsibly, don't you think there is a conflict for the director/commander? Miller and Speedling don't.

ABSOLUTELY.....
It took you 13 days to publish a blog concerning a conflict!!! In part 3 comment was made concerning conflict...there is a violation of GPD Directives and the only one that can over-ride the Directive is the chief.
Anon #2, don't be hollering at me and saying it took me so and so days to do so and so. I have to wait on records and such. If you have something to say spell it out and get after it. Don't sit back and coach me. I don't accept coaching well.
Was the night stick police department issue?
you can on online at the gpd site and view departmental drectives 3.3 and 3.4 concerning off duty and outside employment...do's and don't's...why don't you review that and then ask miller and speedling the questions...
why don't you?
I have and had to live by them for 30 years...your the one trying to make the case!!
My case is made. It is clear it is a mess from the top to the bottom. I can't make them do the right thing. I don't need to review a directive to see this is a conflict. It so amazingly clear that even a cave man could see it.
It's clear to see that the ONLY time anyone will have the guts to intervene with Hinson is if he sleeps with their wife. Or their daughter. Or their sidepiece. As long as he doen't overstep those bounds then, everything's fair game. He's free to open up a group home without telling them. He's free to work off duty. He's free to lie, cheat, steal and all of the other things he's doing, as long as he knows whom to have a clandestine relationship with. I'm done with trusting the GPD. If I ever need any type of assistance, I'll look to the county.
3.4.2 DECLARATION OF OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT
Each employee who wishes to engage in outside employment must submit a “Request for Outside
Employment” form through channels to the Chief of Police prior to initiating such employment.
Unless you are James Hinson!
Section B-10 of the City of Greensboro Personnel Manual states:
• Failure to seek approval for outside employment as outlined herein or to maintain such
employment when not approved shall be cause for disciplinary action up to and including
termination. Inappropriate use of sick leave or health or dental insurance as a result of
outside employment will result in termination of employment with the city.
Unless you are James Hinson
Hinson will be the next Asst Chief coming soon, wait and see.. Hard work doesnt pay off at GPD... Its amazing he can file a lawsuit and all the trouble hes caused and still get promoted... Also hes over the new Racial profiling unit... I would hate to be a white cop just doing there job and get complained on....
