More Denise Coverage!

Denise cannot control the flow of her information.  What should be released isn't, requests are closed without being answered, what is released to one isn't always released to others and sometimes they release too much.  It's a well documented mess.  However, Denise has remained golden throughout her trampling of public records laws.

Her most recent debacle prompted her to recite a statement at a council meeting.  She  read a statement along with Mujeeb and Ken.  She reported the problems came from a system failure of sorts.  I would have to agree with her.  Her system has failed.

The system I am speaking of and the system she spoke of are not the same system.  I am not talking about some computer generated email snatching system.  I am speaking about her management style.  Denise can't control information enough to even do her job the way she wants to.  Information release has and is crippling our city manager.

Denise was faced with my public awareness campaign that focused on burnt homes last fall.  My plan of picking two houses at a time and going back to council on consecutive occasions worked very well.  Council wasn't happy and the media became interested.  All eyes were on Denise and how she was going to address this issue.

Denise obviously reported to others that her plan was to demote Sue Schwartz.  I imagine Denise knew that this was a personnel matter and was not to be discussed outside of city council/authorized city staff.  It's the exact kind of information that the city has habitually held up as a reason for not releasing something.

However, like just about everything else, that information went where Denise didn't want it to go.  In this case, it was the N&R.  They had a story about how Sue may be demoted.  The reporter claimed she had two government sources confirming the demotion.  She further reported her sources wanted to stay anonymous.  That's a good policy since it was a leak of personnel information.

That story was printed before Denise had a chance to talk to Sue.  Because of this, Denise was unable to manage the way she wanted.  Sue was alerted to the situation and hired a lawyer (same one Greg Jackson hired?).

Denise would have liked for Sue to learn of her possible demotion from her.  A department head would get 48 hours or so to present a plan of action to avoid a demotion.  Denise didn't get to do her job the way she wanted because of her inability to control the flow of her information.  We don't need a city managers office that can't control the flow of information.

I believe Sue Schwartz was set up to be a scapegoat to take the fall after Robbie and friends got rid of RUCO.

Ok ben. I’ve been following your diatribe for a year or so and now have to chime in. if you want to know anything about the true nature of race relations in city government then you must look at the Black Public Administrators Forum. Everyone that your diatribe and the rhino mention as racists is listed on the front page. For the record I am black and refuse to join this group. It is wrong to put race over what is just. It is wrong to put race over how to justify lawsuits. It is wrong to put race in government in any way and I am pissed with this group. I love working for this city and I love working for the people that provide me a paycheck. I don’t need this racist bullshit and most of it shamefully comes from my own race and I am embarrassed. Every so often, all my black colleagues dress up in their Sunday best and spend all day in a meeting of the Black Public Administrators Forum. Our taxpayers pay for these meetings under professional development. x% of the City’s professional staff attend. This is what you should be writing about Mr. Holder. I don’t see the white folk doing this. I don’t see it at all. I am from the north and this just doesn’t happen there. Jim Crow died but his spirit was passed on to us…this is our problem today. Southern blacks just haven’t got it. Get it?
